According to the Idaho Transportation Department, motor vehicle fatalities statewide are dropping.
There were 40 deaths during the first four months of 2010, compared with 62 over the same period last year. In a yearly look at the situation, highway deaths dropped by 20 from 2007 to 2008. The department says that in 2007 there were 252 deaths, compared to 232 in 2008. And preliminary data for 2009 suggests a continuing drop to 226 fatalities.
